National Nursing Home Week (Tools)

National Nursing Home Week begins on Mother’s Day, normally the second Sunday of May. This is an opportune time to make Nursing Home Ministry more visible to our local churches and communities. SonShine has some tools available to help!

One of these tools is a 1-page leaflet entitled “White Unto Harvest”. This is very attractively printed, front and back, and concisely presents the need for Nursing Home Ministry and how people can be involved. It is sized to fit in a church bulletin. There is a place for your name and address, for those wanting more information. The name and address of SonShine is also included.

There is a charge of $5.00 for the first 100 leaflets and $2.00 for each additional 100 thereafter. This is to cover the basic cost of production and mailing..

Another tool that works all by itself is our National Nursing Home Week Poster. It is 11 inches by 17 inches in size and is eye-catching and attractively printed in patriotic colors (red, white and blue). It is available for $3.00 each and this includes postage.

Our Recruiting Video is another great tool that can help to usher new Volunteers into this very needy area of ministry. There is more information on this video on the Video Page (Just click on “Videos” on the left side of this screen).

Radio stations across America are required by the FCC to provide a certain amount of time to P.S.A.’s (Public Service Announcements). SonShine has six scripts, all written by SonShine founder Herm Haakenson. There are four scripts typed out below and each one (20-30 seconds long) offers a step-by-step guide to Nursing Home Ministry. This guide is part of our “Power Packet” and is free upon request. All six scripts are available as a PDF file and can be downloaded below. We encourage you to contact a local Christian radio station and ask them to air some of these announcements.
